Federal authorities have seized six web sites that prosecutors say have been illegally distributing copyrighted music to tens of millions of customers.
The U.S. Legal professional’s Workplace for the Jap District of Virginia introduced the seizures Monday of the web sites that primarily focused Latin music.
Based on an affidavit, brokers started investigating the web sites in April after a music business consortium complained.
The web sites—Corourbanos.com, Corourbano.com, Pautamp3.com, SIMP3.com, flowactivo.co and Mp3Teca.ws—collectively reached about 6.6 million customers per 30 days.
Based on the affidavit, the pirated music drew visitors that allowed the web site operators to earn cash by promoting advertisements on the web site.
